National Prize of the Ministry of Culture for «Vida y milagros de San Luis»

At the end of November 2020 we received a call from Ms. María José Gálvez, Director General of Books, to inform us that the First National Prize of the Ministry of Culture for the Best Edited Books, Facsimile modality, had been awarded to our replica of the codex LIFE AND MIRACLES OF SAINT LOUIS kept in the National Library of France.

It is a great honour that this is already our EIGHTEENTH award from the Ministry of Culture and that it also coincides practically in time with the moment when the Spanish Government chose a facsimile of our brand as a gift to Pope Francis during President Sanchez’s visit to Rome (the beautiful Book of Hours of Bishop Fonseca).

Last year the National Prize went to our edition of the famous Sketchbook of Villard de Honnecourt (the only treatise on architecture in the Middle Ages).

We can say that the codex of the LIFE AND MIRACLES OF SAINT LOUIS is, without any doubt, one of the most spectacular books in the world.

Given its rather generous size, its superb binding and its exquisite beauty, the making of this impressive marvel in the artisan workshops of Siloé has involved over six years of

demanding dedication and refined work, and the overcoming of the enormous and unforeseen obstacles that such an imposing work like this manuscript has meant for us.
