Nicolas CHAPUY (Paris 1790 – 1858) was an excellent draughtsman, lithographer and engraver. He was also an admirable landscape painter and a successful architect who would end up acquiring worldwide fame with this incredible lithographic series.
These views of Spain reveal his powerful and admirable romantic subjectivity, his extraordinary artistic ability, all of which made his entire works a true precedent for photography, which was then already in its early beginnings.
