Piarist Book of Hours

15th century. Anonymous. Library of the Colege of Piarist Schools in Saragossa.
Considered by many to be the most beautiful example of international Gothic books of hours in Spain.
Apparently of Parisian origin, it belongs to the international Gothic period.
Medieval Latin and Old French. Perfect Gothic script with an infinite number of initials.
All its leaves are ornamented with the most widespread decoration and patterns of that Gothic style. In addition, there are superb full-page miniatures.
It also has 213 illuminated initials and another 1,300 smaller but equally embellished initials. And that is not to mention the large number of capital letters inside the text, enhanced with soft golden tones, which contribute to give the whole book a certain air of solemnity.
Almost 400 pages on fine 150 x 220 mm vellum, all of which with beautiful borders enhanced with gold.
Handmade binding in red velvet, with sterling silver clasps and medallions. Accompanied by a study volume and an elegant elm-root preservation box.
Limited edition of 898 numbered copies with notarial certificate.
